I recieved an email regarding About Face.  My system took a dive and I lost the comment but here it is in a nut shell:

 Pinnela wrote:  She received an email check from About Face requesting that she print it, cash it, and sent it to them Western Union.  In doing so About Face will process her evaluation.  Pinnela is concerned that this may be a fake check and she will be left with a fake check and no payment.

Hello Pinnela and thank you for your question.  I’m sorry I lost your original post but I hope my answer will help

These checks are popping up all over in many different forms.  In my experience, About Face will never ask you do print a check, cash it and send the funds back to them Western Union.  This is a BIG SCAM!  The check is fake and I have heard of people going to jail for doing this for a “company”.  I would report this to About Face directly (877.770.8585) so they can alert other shoppers of this new scam.  If you still have the email I would forward it to About Face as well.  Remember, any time someone asks you to cash a check and mail them a portion of it, it is a scam.  The banks will hold you responsible for not only the funds but also report you for trying to cash a fake check - that’s jail time!  Let me know what About Face says and I will pass the alert on to others.

I wanted to update you on the latest in mystery shopping news.  Now is a great time to become a shopper!  Most companies are now offering more money for shops due to the lack of participation.  This lack is largely due to the gas price increases.  I have signed up for some really nice shops around my home.  I have one at a restaurant I have wanted to go to; now I can go for free! If you play your cards right, you can sign up for several shops in and around the same area on the same day.  This way you save gas by staying in the area and the trip will be worth the time and money you will spend.  Just check out several companies to see what they have to offer, schedule as many as you feel comfortable with and go.  There’s nothing like spending the day shopping at the mall, getting a facial and then lunch or dinner all reimbursed!  So you walk away feeling great because your husband will not be upset that you were out all day spending money.  All the money spend will be reimbursed within 30 days (check each companies guidelines).  Make sure you check the lists daily, the good ones go fast!  Refer to the list of companies I have on this site.  I know these are good companies and pay well and on time.
